SelectCertified"
How many inspects does
SelecTrucks conduct? What does this mean to our customers?
Before we put a
"SelectCertified" truck in the market place, it must
pass the most detailed inspection process in the industry. Each
"SelectCertified" truck goes through no fewer than five SelecTrucks
inspections. This includes our 148 point "SelectCertified" inspection, plus
at least four other inspections conducted at key steps along the
reconditioning and Select Certification process.
What makes SelecTrucks of Kansas
City different?
We perform more inspections
that any of our competitors. But it is more than quality, it's the skill
of our inspectors and their dedication that makes the difference.
The trucks are exercised
monthly to maintain operating conditions while in storage.
When we order the move to our
location, the truck is inspected using the transportation form.
Once we accept the
truck, it goes
through the following used truck Select Certification
-Sales Term Inspection
-DOT Inspection
-Freightliner Warranty Inspection
-"SelectCertified" 148 Point Inspection
-Dyno Test
-Pre-Delivery Inspection
The
core of all the inspections is the 148 point inspection, This is the most
comprehensive inspection in the industry, covering engine, transmission,
rear axles, suspension, interior integrity, and more...
The trucks that do not pass
these strict inspection criteria must have all necessary parts repaired
our replaced in this process. I polled 44 "SelectCertified" trucks that we
had completed and found that the average labor hours to complete this
process was 37.5 hours per truck. Now that is a commitment that you can be
assured that you are getting a great used truck from SelecTrucks of Kansas
City, but keep in mind this is only the inspection and repair process.
Each Certification step is performed on-site by our
dedicated non-SelecTrucks service provider & off-site detail crew. Each of
these two companies were selected based on local reputation, quality of
work, and after-sale-support.
1.) The 148 point MUST PASS Inspection. Many retailers
like to use industry standard D.O.T. inspections. While this inspection
looks at
Non-bias service provider is responsible for
conducting a written 148 point inspection to exacting standards.
Each "SelectCertified" truck in our inventory is test driven
by a highly skilled technician. This person's sole responsibility is to
put the truck through its paces, and identify potential problems that need
to be addressed.
After the test drive, the vehicle is pulled into our on-site
location, and the same "SelectCertified" technician that test drove the
vehicle then conducts 148 point critical component test, inspections, and
repairs of all major mechanical & cosmetic components. Based on our
standardized "sales condition" policy, each inspection-point must either
pass or fail. Any item or component that fails the stringent criteria set
forth by Freightliner and SelecTrucks of Kansas City will then be
scheduled for replacement or repair.
Each item that failed the "SelectCertified" inspection is
repaired or replaced to OEM (Original Equipment Manufactures)
specifications. These mechanical & cosmetic repairs are by far, the most
costly and time consuming step of the ""SelectCertified"" process, but the
end results are unequaled.
2.) Chassis dynamometer tested. This is not a must when it
comes to our certification process, but we believe it provides yet another
measure of quality for the following reasons.
A chassis dynamometer is used to simulate fully loaded
driving conditions under controlled conditions. The vehicle is driven on
rollers, while a dynamometer simulates the inertia of the vehicle as well as
the drag and friction on the vehicle (known as "loaded" in the trucking
industry). We also use this to bring the rest of the powertrain up to full
operating temperature and monitor the trucks overall performance utilizing
computer software and diagnostic systems. .

All great companies that focus on excellence have systems in
place that drive the products and/or services that they offer to the next
level. When you consider SelecTrucks "SelectCertified" inspection, repairs,
Freightliner certification, detail and P.D.I. We realistically can invest
over 30-40 hours in preparation from start to finish. This quality oriented
systematic approach takes a lot of time and resources, but the end results
are worth it. Through hard work and being dedicated to pre-owned trucks
SelecTrucks of Kansas City has earned a reputation of providing top notch
trucks that sets a benchmark that not many simply cannot reach.
"Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high
intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution; it
represents the wise choice of many alternatives." - William A. Foster Click
